Five reasons to take up mathematics. Even if you are a humanitarian!

A few reasons to learn mathematics.

24.01.2022

How many times in your life have you had to say "Why do I need these sines and cosines? Will they be of use to me at all in my life?" or "Why should I count in a column? I always have a calculator handy...”. There is, of course, some truth in this. Certainly, not a single employer will ask you to count in your head or calculate the length of a side of an equilateral triangle during an interview. And yet, why do we need mathematics?

  • 1. Mathematics Trains Memory

Scientists have proven that when solving mathematical tasks, persons use many parts of their brain. Including the chambers of the brain - the area that is responsible for memory is most involved during the process. We literally take out the entire knowledge available from our memory so that some part of it will help us solve the problem.

  • 2. Mathematics Increases Concentration and Perseverance

It is hard to solve a maths problem when your brain is thinking about something else. Mathematical tasks require full concentration, thus increasing its level and allowing the brain to get on track. It also helps in work when you have a specific task for which little time is allocated - we all know how hard it can sometimes be to devote 100% attention to one thing.

  • 3. Mathematics Allows You to Better Cope with Everyday Tasks

Mathematics is the most rational science. There can be no “Perhaps” or “Maybe”. Only knowledge, only theory, only hardcore. In life, we really lack a clear plan of what to do and how to do it. We are not always guided by the rational, but we often involve the emotional. The mathematical brain solves even everyday problems in the most efficient way.

  • 4. Brain Boosting

Think of mathematics as a trip to the gym for the brain. Do not forget that it is necessary to not only monitor the state of the body, but also of the brain. Imagine what would happen to you if you only ate fast food for years and practised lying on the bed. I don't think anything good would come of it. It is the same with the brain - if you do not upload high-quality information there, but feed it exclusively with serials and forget about exercising, everything can end very sadly.

  • 5. Mathematics Helps in Learning Languages

Language is a system. The system of signs, rules, addition and subtraction. If your brain works on a mathematical wave, then it will not be difficult to learn systems of languages.
